American Dave
Whether launching cleverly engineered 808s and drill-esque hats, or hacking vocal samples and low-tuned toms, American Dave makes low-end focused music crafted virtuously for the club.
Based in Boston since the alias's inception in 2014, over the last 2-3 years his sound has grown exponentially into something distinct and focused: representing a beautiful hybridity. 2019 saw the release of 'Tyson', a song Trap Nation premiered and that was one of the years' most viral passages: with over 1000+ videos created on TikTok, and 250,000 streams on Spotify alone. Unsatisfied however, the fall of 2019 saw a new chapter of American Dave's journey as he finished the year with EP 'They Switching' and single 'Guetta Amen': both of which constitute a far more linear borrowing of techno premises and more challenging yet cohesive listens.
With over half a million streams in 2019 alone then, and with high-profile playlist inclusions on the Louis the Child SiriusXM show, Alison Wonderland's weekly mix series and Zed's Dead's Bass Arcade Spotify takeover, American Dave's drum-focused and inimitable sound looks set to spread beyond the shores of his dedicated and adoring home audience, and not before time.
He continues to produce forward-thinking music unconcerned by conventional boundaries, music that is played on the radio and streamed veraciously, but more centrally he is an innovator: something US electronic music needs in this new decade.
